Hello there,

Are you sick of being bored during quarantine? Well, we are here to help! Today the FD team will be sharing with you various ways to stay busy that will keep your head out of the dumps while practicing social distancing to protect your community. Here are 5 things you can do while cooped up in your home:

  • Host a Netflix Party with friends and/or family.
  • Netflix launched a new program which is taking movie-watching with friends to the next level. Here you can access the instructions on how to download the program onto your computer. It only works on Google Chrome, so make sure you have that.

  • Go viral in a good way by creating a quarantine-themed TikTok.
  • Yep, you've been in bed scrolling down your Instagram, Twitter, AND TikTok newsfeed watching funny TikTok dance videos like the rest of us. Why not get your booty up and make one yourself? They are a bunch of fun! Honestly, if you are anything like us, you’ll end up getting a good workout in because you literally find yourself running through a routine about 10 times until you are convinced it is good enough for the world to see. If you need help getting started, Annabelle Holman, a fellow Tar Heel, wrote a killer article about how to learn a TikTok dance

  • Use Skype, FaceTime, or Google Hangouts to video chat with your long-distance friends.
  • It probably sucks not being able to casually “pull up” to your friend’s place to simply watch movies, gossip about the new attractive person in your class, or even catch up on each other’s personal lives. Luckily, we are in a new age that allows us to use technology as a medium to connect with one another. Yes, it doesn’t compare to being able to get that comforting hug or kiss, but just remember that this period — similar to most terrible moments in life — is temporary.

  • Start a journal, blog, or vlog.
  • A classic... with a twist. This pandemic may be a very traumatic experience for you. It struck an entire global panic, and if you are experiencing this time alone without friends or family near you, it's possible you are in desperate need to RELEASE your inner feelings. Try starting a journal and write in it every day. If you hate writing, start a vlog. It’s much easier because you literally just pick up your phone and talk to yourself out loud. Could you imagine rewatching the videos you made of yourself or rereading the things you said three years from now? You will be impressed by how far you came.

  • Learn how to cook new recipes with ingredients you may not be using already, from banana pudding to panini.
  • We polled the Fluidity Designs team, and yes, our favorite part about quarantining is the food. Reread that sentence again. Yes, eating — not cooking. There are a lot of our moms and dads who--with us at home unexpectedly--are always asking about new recipes that we would like to try. We say YES! Anything from fresh rolls of bread, blueberry muffins from scratch, and homemade Philly cheesesteaks. Every. dish. YES!!! Therefore, if you are currently living with someone who loves to cook, make sure to be volunteer tester for new recipes they'd like to try. Cooking also makes time go by faster. And tastier.
